Association for India's Development is a volunteer movement promoting sustainable, equitable and just development. In solidarity with non-violent people's struggles, AID supports grassroots organizations in India and initiates efforts in various interconnected spheres such as education, livelihoods, natural resources including land, water and energy, agriculture, health, women's empowerment and social justice.
AID starts from a simple idea: problems are interconnected, so the solutions must be too. Volunteers work through three approaches that support each other.
Sangharsh: speak truth to power and challenge injustice.
Nirman: practice the solutions and create alternatives.
Seva: live responsibly and be the change.
AID's national website explains the approach in depth and how AID began.
The projects Seattle supports work on farming, education and community health, and each has a profile in Our impact.
